Not a genuine Apple adapter, but still works well May 14, 2010 Eric Aderhold (Seattle, WA USA) My original 85W MagSafe adapter failed on me after about three years. This one looks exactly the same from a distance, it just lacks the Apple logo when you look at it closely. I've had it for a couple of months now and it works just fine so far.
One slightly different thing about it is that the little light at the end that plugs into your computer stays on when you unplug it from the computer. I'll gladly accept these minor differences for the lower price.
Power adapter for PowerMac laptop 17 inch April 29, 2010 Gamaliel Villamar Jr. The delivery was fast. It was estimated for a couple of days but was delivered within the second day!!
Cheaper in cost, but more cheaply made April 9, 2010 J. Dennis (Boulder, CO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My MacBook Pro power adapter that came with the laptop lasted me about 3 1/2 years before the wires on the connection finally gave out.
Not wanting to get an $80 replacement, I tried MAGSAFE 85W power adapter instead. However, after just over 2 months, the magnet that connects the cord to the macbook broke off from the cord, and it is now completely unusable. Now I'm forced to buy another one, but this time I'm not making the mistake of going cheap, and am buying the power adapter from Apple again, as the cheaper price isn't worth it if the product can't last 3 months.
They last about 1 1/3 times the duration of the warranty April 1, 2010 Robert C. Fitzgerald (Atlanta, GA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm on my second one of these right now. It is about a year and 4 months old, and has begun to fail in the same way as the last one did at around the same amount of time. The magsafe end begins to develop shorts. First, the indicator light stops working, but it still charges. If you wiggle it enough, the indicator light will resume working. Then, the same thing begins with the actual power wires, and it no longer will charge. Again, at first, wiggling the end usually results in finally getting it to charge. This is the stage I am at now. Eventually, wiggling will no longer work.
Basically, all of this occurs just in time for the warranty to have expired. I would complain to Apple as soon as I noticed any behavior like this, as it may start early enough to fall within the warranty.
Not what is advertised!!!! February 24, 2010 J. Venters 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This charger does indeed charge my MacBook Pro... However I am super bummed that it is the dinky short corded generic adapter. It is NOT Apple, or even Magsafe, and the cord is short. I would have payed 20 bucks on eBay, if I was in the market for a generic. DO NOT BE FOOLED.
