1 out of 5 stars Forget about it   August 6, 2010

Don't buy this camera .... oh you can't ...amazon doesn't offer it anymore because it's junk ....first of all, you don't have any idea if the picture you wanted to take was taken because of the shutter delay and also you can't preview the image in the window bec it's washed out ... you can't change the camera setting in daylight bec the window is washed out ... so you can't switch to video if you wanted to ...the camera eats batteries even when the camera is OFF ....you have to put in a new set of batteries each time you want to use the camera or you'll be disappointed when you go to use it...buy a disposable camera!!!

i bought htis camera for the Great Barrier Reef and by the time it actually took the shot what i was shooting swam away. For some reason it takes like 20 seconds to actually take the shot and you cant move it. it literally tells you taking shot dont move camera.

3 out of 5 stars It is OK for the money   July 19, 2010
Kim Meckley
We were going to Hawaii for vacation and I knew we were going to do a lot of snorkeling and maybe go diving once. We have a underwater film camera that we could have used, but we wanted something digital. After reading the reviews, this camera and case seemed to be the solution I was looking for. I knew I wasn't going to be allowed to spend a lot of money or we would have purchased something way more expensive.

For snorkeling, it was good. We got a lot of good pictures. It was hard to see the screen in the back when the sun was out. I had to use my judgement on where to aim the camera. Most times, I was close.

For diving, it was OK. I only went to 45' and the case never leaked. I could see the screen a little better. Our guide took pictures and wanted to charge $50 for his set; this would almost cover the cost of the camera.

Overall, the camera worked. It does take a second or two to take the picture. I wish they had a better camera. We got some good pictures and we didn't have to wait for developing. It would have cost us more to develop the same amount of film than it did for the camera. In that sense, the camera was a great bargain. If we were shooting film, I would not have taken as many pictures and would have maybe missed out on a few good ones. The video is a little sketchy. At 9 fps, it looks jumpy during playback.

We only had two problems. A latch for closing the case has become deformed, but it still works. The button for taking the picture never returns to the fully open position, but it still works.

When we buy a better camera, this one may go to the kids or be used as a back-up.

** Update: I contacted the comnpany about the problems and sent the unit back. They were very responsive and repaired it back very quickly.

2 out of 5 stars Fine seller, horrible product.   July 11, 2010

The good: First camera leaked around lens porthole in less than five minutes in 17 feet of water. Good seller though, they replaced the housing and I no longer have leaking issues.

The bad: No zoom feature, and don't even think of taking a picture of anything closer than 3-4 feet.

The ugly: If you don't have perfect viz, don't even bother trying. In viz less than 20-25 feet the camera has a terrible time focusing on anything. Blues and other natural colors are washed out into grays, browns and ashy colors. Even with the flash. And what is with he shutter delay? Push the button and a full second and a half go by before the photo is taken.

I wish I had never purchased this camera, but its my own dang fault. I was looking for something cost effective to use off the beaches of Venice, Florida. What I got was a substandard POS. I don't blame the seller, they made no claims to the contrary of my review. But still, I've used $5 disposable underwater cameras that took better photos.

The camera eats batteries. If it has the ability to take decent pictures, I will never know. Look elsewhere.
