really great, except the ballhead knob. August 23, 2010 Rhea Harvard This tripod has everything I wanted. Very sturdy and light, like a professional version, but inexpensive. I really love this product.
But, the knob part of ballhead needs some improvement. I have to constantly screw and release it to adjust the angle of my camera during shooting, but the end of the knob does not hold the end and easily comes out and falls down. Actually I lost my knob on my first trip with the tripod.
Dolica customer service was very kind enough to promise they would send a now ballhead if I send my ballhead. I'm really impressed by the service, but it looks like it's going to take more than 2 weeks anyway. I'm still waiting for the new one...
Other than that, I recommend this tripod.
Canon 50D August 18, 2010 MJNolte I have a Canon 50D and this tripod can support the weight. The ball head offers nice flexibility.
Simple, and Light :) August 9, 2010 Anchal This is only my second tripod, and so far it is FAR FAR better than the first one...
definitely a lot of features that I didn't have it in my start-up one...but I am sure there are a lot of better ones out there...for the money you would spend on it, is the best product you can get...
Great tripod for the money August 9, 2010 Roger E. Frame (Denver, CO) I love this tripod. It's very versatile and light weight. I have a Canon 7D camera with 24-105 mm lens and so far I have not experienced any difficutly holding this relatively heavy camera and lens mentioned by some other reviewers. Carrying case has also be fine. Great value for the money
Worth the money August 6, 2010 Reviewer94553 (Martinez, CA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
For $40 this is a great deal. It's strong enough for my T2i with 55-250 lens, and it could handle more (I'm not sure if it could handle the 70-200 L IS, but if you can afford that lens you'd be buying a better tripod anyway). As a test I tried using my Celestron 70mm binoculars on it (3 lbs) and it would take about 10 seconds for the vibration to dampen. So if you are going to use it for still shots you definitely want to use the IR transmitter or 10 sec delay since touching the shutter will trigger slight vibrations for a few seconds.
I didn't give it 5 stars because the leg locks seem a little delicate and might break if you open it in a hurry. Other than that, the ball lock work well and hold it tight. Definitely worth it.
P.S. One negative for me is that the foam hand pads really stink! I've aired them out and wiped them down, but I might just have to cut them off and toss 'em in the trash.
