3 out of 5 stars get a pan head   March 13, 2010
T. HUNG (Monterey Park, CA United States)
It is a good tripod except the ball head is very hard to adjust, especially when you are using telephoto lenses. Every time I have a desire position and try to tighten the ball head, the camera drops a little bit because of the its own weight. My suggestion is to get a pan head instead to replace the ball head, then it will be a very good tripod at that price.

4 out of 5 stars Very, very impressive for the money!   March 11, 2010

I couldn't be more pleased with this product for the price I paid for it. That said, no one should expect this tripod to be as solid and durable as a professional tripod costing 4,5, or 10 times the price and weighing in at double the weight or greater. Reviewers who have stated this tripod is not rock solid when the legs are fully extended are absolutely correct. The last section of the legs are pretty small in diameter and as such do flex a bit. That comes with the territory with an inexpensive, lightweight tripod such as this. A much heavier tripod will have much sturdier legs but then you get to carry that weight with you every time you sling it over your shoulder. This is always a tradeoff you have to make. You will also have be careful not to force the plastic leg clamps on this or any other tripod using plastic clamps. Obviously more expensive tripods with metal leg clamps will last longer and take more abuse. Even with these minor concerns I still think this is a great value, especially when they throw in a decent ball head and carrying case in the price.

To put all this in perspective, one of my Manfrotto ball heads alone cost double the price of this entire tripod, ball head and case combination! On the subject of the ball head: The included one isn't bad at all. I have other Manfrotto equipment with quick release heads so I swapped out the head this tripod came with so I could use the same quick release plate on all my equipment and have a separate ball friction adjustment not present on the included head. If you don't need interchangeability with other equipment the included ball head should serve you well. It seems amazingly smooth and well made for the price and it attaches to the tripod with a standard 3/8" thread so you can always swap it out like I did with minimal fuss if you decide you want a more full featured head at a later date.

The bottom line is you almost always get what you pay for. I feel in the case of this product however, you are certainly getting more than your moneys worth when you consider just how inexpensive this model is. As long as you understand and accept the limitations of lightweight camera supports I would not hesitate to recommend this tripod!

5 out of 5 stars Affordable and durable!   March 11, 2010

I went to a photography class and my teacher had some tripos for sale, it was the Dolica Proline. He was selling them for what i thought was a good price until I found this seller.
Great Products, super affordable and fast shipping, I will definitely buy again.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Amateur Tripod   March 10, 2010
PinoyPlaya (Spokane, WA USA)
I just received my order from Amazon. The tripod is very well built and I have tested it out by applying heavy pressure on the tripod to see if it could withstand the force and it does! However, my only complaint was that the ball head part of the tripod (the part you use to connect your camera to the tripod) was missing. So I was a little disappointed and I immediately called Amazon and they have offered to send me a new tripod with 1 day shipping free of charge! They also provided me a return ticket so I could return the one I just received today.

I have read several reviews before deciding to purchase this tripod and one common things I have heard is that there is no user manual included. Well, actually there is! I found it and it is located inside the bag (which comes with it). Inside the bag is a small zipper pocket that you can use to store a couple things in and I found the user manual inside that mini pocket. I was able to use the tripod and set it up with the user's manual, so it is not that hard to figure out how to adjust the the tripod and such.

I will be continue with an updated review once I receive the replacement product Amazon has sent me. I will be using a Canon T1i Camera + Canon 70-200mm F/2.8L IS Lens and hopefully it will be able to support it.

5 out of 5 stars good tripod for the price and quality.   March 6, 2010
J. P. LARSON (MINNEAPOLIS, MN United States)
I'm a photography student and have fallen in love with this tripod. Of course, its not the top of the line $300 tripod quality. But, for a fraction of the price, it is sturdy and holds up well to the walking around city streets and the woods in the park by my house. The legs adjust so you can center the leveling bubble to make sure camera is level. the latches work well. the best part is the quick release base-no more screwing your camera to the tripod every time.
