The item could not cost more than 20 cents to manufacture - really. We are paying over $10. It is manufactured out of a really cheap, thin plastic that has a terrible odor. I haven't had mine for very long and the little I tried to use it, I don't see any benefit over using the wide angle lens on my 580EX II. I guess $10 is not a lot for a diffuser but $10 is a lot to throw away on an item with little value. If your flash unit does not include a wide angle lens, then I would suggest you purchase this. It will do the job. Otherwise, save your $10 and buy lunch instead.

Dickerson(Claremont, CA USA) The product pictures, and the packaging, show the diffuser held in place by a friction band or strap around the flash head. What I got instead was a bunch of velcro pieces that I'm supposed to peel and stick. So, not usable on multiple flashes, and this kind of tape invariably degenerates into a gooey mess after a year or two. It's going back.
If you don't care about that, well then I'm sure it works fine. It's just a piece of plastic.
Don't Waste Your MoneyFebruary 26, 2010 Daniel Borden I purchased 4 of these because I needed something on the go when doing a photoshoot off-site. The concept is great the implementation sucks. The product is poorly constructed (the plastic bindings that hold the velcro strap breaks after one or two uses (this occured on all 4 items) making the product useless) - I wrote Opteka to complain but never heard back from them. I got what I paid for 4 cheaply made products for a cheap price. That's the problem with buying online - you don't know what the quality is until after the purchase (sucks being me).
Cheap!February 23, 2010 Tori R(MI) This item was not at all what I expected! The photo presented surely offers a much more professional looking item. I do not care for the light it puts out either! When it arrived, I was shocked to see what I had just opened when I took it out of the package! Although, it did arrive quickly & packaged nicely, it is not a product I would recommend.
