Its a great stand just not compact enoughAugust 11, 2010 J. W. Smith(White Hall, MD, USA) This stand is wonderful. I didn't have issues with the internal springs although I don't force the stand down on top of them either. I use them as a bounce for when I'm packing up. They are very lightweight but don't swing when I place my lighting units ontop. I use either novatron strobe heads or mith vector hot lamp units.
I would say these collapse to about 38 inches. Even if I collapsed them all the way with the springs compressed the stand would not fit into my novatron case which is 36 inches long. So I had to pick up a carrying bag but I had to get one anyway for portable backdrop stands & pole.
But they area great stand for the price. I luv them.
An every day standAugust 11, 2010 Rudy C Light duty, for eveyday use with lite Strobes and small accessories. Can not hang heavy lights and softboxes on this stand. Typical China import....
If U have reasonable expectations, u will like this standJuly 13, 2010 Ran Kravania(Philadelphia, PA USA) I bought a few of these stands because of the price and that I am not going to be breaking them down a lot. I just set up my ephoto 16" beauty dish with honeycomb filter on it today and it works great! I wouldn't expect to use it if I were to be traveling a lot and having to tear it down and set it up repeatedly. The fact is, for basic use, like in a studio, it's perfectly fine. But I wouldn't expect it to last long if I did a lot of location shooting. It's good for what it is supposed to be. I give it 5 stars because I don't expect to be using it for heavy duty work. It looks good and professional. It is machined well.

The only thing i didnt like about it is that its a bit to light.
Still I find many uses with it in my studio.
