Product Description iTrip - it's not just for iPod anymore. We call this one "auto" because it gets its power from your vehicle's 12 Volt accessory outlet. And we call it "universal" because it works with any portable audio device that has a standard 1/8" headphone jack (including CDs, MP3s, cassettes, and yes, even iPod). Additionally, the "Plus" in this iTrip model is the ability to charge your player by means of a built-in USB port. Plug in your player's USB charge/sync cable, and you get to listen to your tunes while you're traveling, and arrive with a fully-charged player.

not as descibed September 2, 2010 Dan Wray (Wilmore, KY United States) Just to point out, under features it says, and i quote "Uses built-in, USB-rechargeable lithium-ion battery for hours of play". thats total crap, but honestly, not really a deal breaker. I just wish i could trust the description. Also, the people complaining about the auto-shutoff are completely correct, it's maddeningly annoying at best. it literally has to be blasting the volume to keep from shutting off, and thats only for songs that dont have any quiet parts whatsoever. otherwise you can depend on having to hit buttons on it to keep it awake or wake it up.
that issue is a shame, because this is definitely the best sounding fm transmitter i've ever used, totally passable if this is your only option. I did email the seller about the auto-shutoff and they sent me another one for free, which somehow doesnt shut off at all. While this essentially fixed the problem for me, it also removes one of the actual features they listed that actually exists on the transmitter. however, i'd rather it never shut off than shut off in the middle of all my music.
on a final note, i dont recall seeing anywhere that these were used or refurb, but the seller i purchased from definitely did not send me new units. bulk packaging was mentioned, but i was unaware that this meant "not new either", but maybe thats just me. i suppose though, after some time, and correspondence with the seller, i did receive a satisfactory fm transmitter. so if you're eventually so lucky, at this price, you cant go wrong. otherwise, its not really worth the risk.
Hardly ever works. August 31, 2010 Lee Dydo The power constantly flickers on and off. The buttons don't always work. And it's very difficult to find a station. Usually doesn't work.
I tripped August 30, 2010 JamesDean I bought this FM transmitter expecting it to be a high quality product, but, I was mistaken. The sound quality is terrible, the static that is experienced while trying to listen to your music is annoying, bordering on infuriating. Although it is easy to tune the Itrip to the frequency of your radio, even at night with its nice backlit lcd screen, I would not recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy listening to their MP3 while driving in their car.
Exactly what you paid for August 24, 2010 Eric Williams I got his device from a 3rd party seller, and got the bare bones. BUT, that's all you need. All you need to do is plug it in to your car's electric/cigarette lighter port and plug it into your media device's headphone port. DON'T PUT THE CD PLAYER/MP3/OTHER DEVICE AT FULL BLAST. The sound will distort and red-line. Turn it down a notch or two, then it will sound GREAT.
I use this for streaming Pandora and MP3s off my HTC Hero. Pandora sounds pretty good, but MP3 sound fantastic. So basically, this will broadcast to your car radio at top quality. I was getting 4 point sound from my stereo streaming MP3s. Don't shell out the dough for the store brands or the same thing in the stores. Just look for it here on Amazon and you'll get a great deal. Great investment, especially if you may be using different devices.
Love this FM transmitter August 20, 2010 J. Warren (north carolina coast) This is my second FM transmitter. It costs 1/3 of the first one and is sleeker, more modern and works way better than the other one. this was easy to set up and use. The directions are clear. When I traveled today to a new city I needed to change the frequency, but this was super simple, just went up .1 and it worked. It also has a USB that I can charge my MP3 player with. the other one I had said it would do this but never worked. this is SO worth the cost.
