Amazon.com Product Description Spend enough time on the water, and your equipment will spend some time in it. Tech Talk Objective Lens: The diameter of the objective or front lens. The larger the objective lens, the more light that enters the binocular, and the brighter the image. Field of View (F.O.V.): The side-to-side measurement of the circular viewing field or subject area. It is defined by the width in feet or meters of the area visible at 1000 yards or meters. A wide angle binocular features a wide field of view and is better for following action. Generally, the higher the magnification, the narrower the field of view. Roof Prism System: In roof prism binoculars the prisms overlap closely, allowing the objective lenses to line up directly with the eyepiece. The result is a slim, stream-lined shape in which the lenses and prisms are in a straight line.

Good choice August 23, 2010 somebody Bought these for an Alaskan cruise. It was a good choice. Our party had a variety of binoculars ranging from cheap no-name (which did not work at all) to Nikons. For my use these worked the best. I did notice the captain of one of the excursion vessels had the full-size version of this exact binoc. Yes, they are waterproof and I needed them to be. Easy to focus. The right magnification for viewing whales, eagles, glaciers, etc.
Okay, but doesn't focus as well as I expected July 2, 2010 Emmett L. Higginbotham I bought these for birding and other nature/wildlife viewing. The strength of magnification is okay, but they do not focus as well as I had hoped for. There is a very small sweet spot for focusing the left lens. I'll buy another brand next time.
Disappointing April 6, 2010 Kurt (Berkeley, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Muddy image, dull and lifeless was my first impression. For example, I then tried a pair of Nikon Monarch 10x42's, and was stunned by the comparative brightness and liveliness. If you can afford to spend more now, or wait and spend more, your eyes will be rewarded for many many years to come.
Worth evry penny . January 12, 2010 Ahmad Albarq Compact design well made clear to the highest level you can read a sign about 3 miles away i love it and i will buy more for my friends .
Great binoculars! December 15, 2009 Elizabeth Blair (Nowhere, Oregon USA) These binoculars have wonderful clarity and a nice compact size. They come with a neck strap, lens covers and a case.
