Not worth the Nikon name January 6, 2009 M. Turano (NJ) I read these reviews too, thinking there was no possible way Nikon could produce what all these people were complaining about. Oof. Was I wrong! Don't even try taking indoor pictures without flash. They will come out looking like 90's era webcam pictures. I tried a few shots with a tripod and they came out half decent, so make sure you take one of those along with you. Not quality work from a company that knows better.
Great stuff. January 3, 2009 John Dorian Camera is perfectly new and specifications are what was described by seller. Great shipping and got it by Christmas.
Great camera for the price January 3, 2009 Thomas E. Waters (Kansas City,MO) This is the 5th Nikon camera that I own and the quality just gets better. My daughter is a professional photographer and we are using this as a backup at weddings and such. Great pictures and easy to use. Small size makes it easy to drop in pocket and is ready in an instant to use. Highly recommended.
Incredible little camera January 3, 2009 C. S. Wilson (Central Pennsylvania) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This Nikon Coolpix S550 with 10 megapixels and 5x zoom is a leap forward for Nikon when comparing this to my prior (Coolpix) camera that had appx 5 megapixels and 2x zoom capability. This is MUCH faster than prior versions cutting delay to a fraction of my previous model. The view screen on the back is larger (2.5 inch LCD) and the images appear "crystal clear". If you've owned a prior version of the Coolpix camera and you upgrade to this one, you'll have very little trouble figuring out how to use it. I didn't even need to read the instruction manual. This camera is probably not the best one for people who do "serious" photography. It's perfect though, for me -- all I want to do is point and shoot with minimal delay between photos. This version comes with a unique rechargeable battery that comes with its own charger. Battery life seems pretty long. I charged it once on 12/24/08, and it's now 1/3/09. I have yet to drain the battery. I recommend buying a camera case for this camera, because it's very slim, and it would help to protect the display screen from scratches. Mine was made in Indonesia.
A Good CameraIt January 1, 2009 Syed Shahid Hussain 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is a nice looking camera. It's 5 times zooming power and 10 MPixels resolution makes it stand out among others in this price range.
