Samsung SPF-71E 7-Inch Digital Photo Frame January 3, 2009 Rung (LA, CA) This review is for the Samsung SPF-71E 7-Inch Digital Photo Frame. I was doing some research and thought that this frame was 4:3, which is the ratio the majority of point-and-shoot cameras take. I was absolutely wrong...this frame is 16:9, which means that the majority of pictures will show up with bars on the left and right side. NOTE: This review is solely to let others know that the Samsung SPF-71E 7-Inch Digital Photo Frame is 16:9; I don't know anything about how this frame operates or how good it is otherwise.
Didn't like the image resolution December 31, 2008 Richie (STL, MO) When we finished uploading our pics to this frame, we were disappointed in the screen resolution; grainy & splotchy. Photos were taken with varying quality settings, some at nearly 2MB, but all looked same. We cropped some to fit the wide-screen; same result. Returning it today, still like our Kodak frame we got a year ago--will probably go with another similar.
Great digital frame for the price December 31, 2008 James Beswick (San Francisco, CA) I paid only $50 during Amazon's Christmas specials (not sure I'd pay $100), but my mother was able to get it working immediately, and she'd not the most tech-savvy person. The frame looks good (not cheap, like so many digital frames), and the resolution makes all your family pictures look infinitely better than the printed equivalent. I'm not sure I'm used to seeing digital frames around the house yet, but clearly there are going to be many more of them in the future!
A Beautiful Way to Display Pictures!!! December 31, 2008 PattyCakes (Coral, PA) I bought this as a present for my mother. She loved it!!! Now, I have to be honest and tell you that I am not a computer genius and neither is she...so her daughter in law had to up load the pictures. She had no problems...NONE. It works beautifully!!!! My mom is soooo happy with her present. It displays pictures perfectly and beautifully!!! And best of all...now that someone showed her how to do it and use it...she knows how to use it herself. So I would say it is pretty simple to use.
good frame, poor service from Amazon December 29, 2008 W. S. Reynolds (Dacula, GA) I tried to order this frame online, but it kept saying I was ordering the 7-inch frame even though I was selecting the better-reviewed 8-inch model. I called the Customer Service number and s/w Rahul T, who assured me that if I selected the 8-inch option, I would receive the 8-inch product. I pointed out to Rahul T that I was surprised that there would be no price change between the two, and he said again that if I selected the 8-inch product, I would receive it. I placed the order as we wanted to give two of these as presents. Shortly thereafter, I received an email from Rahul T regarding how to return items, but no further explanation. When we received the frames, they were the 7-inch models. They are fine for what they are, but consider them to be more along the lines of the 5-inch frames unless you have a camera that shoots in 16:9, which is rarely a good crop for a photo even if your camera will take it that way. We had to give the frames as presents because we could not afford to buy something else while waiting for the returns, but I am very dissatisfied with Amazon's service here. I had always assumed that their website and service was top-notch, and that is how they got so big, but it's actually pretty poor all the way around. Next year, I will look around more to see who is really trying to give a superior shopping experience.
